  • Prepare: Place eggs in a saucepan in a single layer. Cover with 1 inch of cold water.
  • Boil: Bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
  • Simmer: Turn off heat, cover, and let sit:
    • 6-7 mins: Soft-boiled
    • 8-9 mins: Jammy
    • 12-15 mins: Hard-boiled
  • Ice Bath: Transfer to ice water for 5 mins to stop cooking and make peeling easy!

The Recipe: Combine ½ cup boiling water, 1 tsp white vinegar, and 10–20 drops of food coloring.

  • The Vinegar Rule: Vinegar is crucial! It helps the dye bond to the shell for vibrant colors.
  • Dyeing Time: Soak 3-5 minutes for pastels. Leave longer for dark, deep colors.
  • Drying: Use a wire rack or paper towel. Once dry, rub with a tiny bit of oil for a shiny finish.
